So going back to my original question is how can I learn how to reverse engineer WoW? I assume a reverse engineering course is a must, and then just go from there by trying to apply that to WoW? Or look for what other courses are there on WoW/other MMOs to get an understanding of that?
I understand it's gonna take me years and I may quit, but I still want to try it at least, and I'm not sure where to even begin looking into this

You open WoW in IDA and you poke around, find the packet readers/handlers etc.
