also another question (it's been a while since I've touched wow), as 3.3.5 is in maintenance, does this mean 3.3.5 is considered fully feature completed? e.g quests etc all working?

well, the entry level to become a dev is relatively high, because you're dealing with code that partially didn't age well and it's not documented at all. So you're essentially jumping into an ocean full of 'what the fuck is going on'
