Yeah, then there would be an issue. But since that service doesn't have many functionalities, theoretically, the chances of it crashing are lower than with a monolith. Additionally, this service is scalable, so in case of a crash, not all players would be affected, but only those who are connected to this proxy. This reduces the chance that somebody might be in the middle of such a 'transaction'.

Also, we are not developing a banking app, it's wow. I guess players are accustomed to items disappearing and the chances of ending up in this situation are miserable.
