I kind of disagree that TC is OOP heavy too, there are many god-classes and the class hierarchies are not that big. Perhaps it's more OOP than normal in the game industry.
Bit late to the discussion, but didn't Blizz introduce sharding so that they don't need to provision for peak usage? It's a cost saving measure.
