the largest benefit by far is ignoring dropped packets, but that doesn't help much for games like wow where almost everything is reliable. you can probably do some work around congestion, but i've never heard of anyone bothering so they just end up with a worse version of tcp in the end

yea thats the other side. many shooters would probably also work with tcp but Im happy that cs go etc use udp still

the way updatedata works is that it only ever sends player values that change instead of building full entity packets every frame, which doesn't really work if you can't ensure that data is reliably received by the player and in order

depends on the specifics of course, but wows targeting-based combat helps many people play the game even on very poor connections that would render most fps games unplayable
