We need more infos for that. Cannot be online in terms of gets disconnected on world login, cannot create char, cannot login to realmlist, cannot login at all (getting xy server is down message)?

Or maybe the player just forgot to use arctium launcher and set portal (if master) or forgot to set realmlist (if 335)

If worldserver DDoS is happening everything on the affected server lags and likely timeouts, not only new players.
If bnetserver DDoS is happening people cannot login, but people which are already logged in can still play normally (same behavior if you just kill bnetserver)
