back when i was running into the timezone pointer confliction in freebsd, they linked me "linux requirements" documentation

well, our stance on "slightly more exotic configurations" is that if you fix them and PR them then we merge it but we do not maintain it (so if it breaks in future, it will probably stay broken unless someone fixes it again)
