So maybe up the security for docker and then reboot and try these commands again?

you should just need to log out of linux and log back in, but a reboot would work

one more thing, if you have the time. what does `cat /etc/*-release` show? we might be able to find updates with it

But my best bet is that we need to figure out how to get docker updated, that's a pretty old version (still going off the client)
