I just began doing this shit today. It's real shitty shit, mostly because WarcraftStudio doesn't have a "Sort alphabetically" option and when I open common.mpq I get every disordered; not easy to look for a specific item. And it doesn't help browsing extracted files because there's no preview.
Anyway, I thought that my warrior's Season 1 gear is pretty ugly (Blizzard did for a mysterious reason make the textures lot uglier than the t4. No little details, etc). Therefore I decided to make new textures for the shoulders and helm; it's not exactly a recolored T4, but some kind of blend (especially for the spikes). I kept the same eye glow while making it dark-gold, etc.
Here's a screenie if you want to see for yourself (belt/boots are not visible though, bc of my lazyness):
Now, before you all begin screaming "It's beeeeen done you rep leacher!"; Well, it's not been technically done, at least it wouldn't exactly be the same. Second, this is only one of many more to come. I couldn't wait to show off my super photoshop skillz, and be sure you'll hear of me again.
My current plans: Edit all those ugly WoW models into something nicer for the eyes.
So, what do you think? Should I continue this work, or just throw myself off a cliff?
Edit: I'll upload the mpq patch file when I get hang of some web storage. Will do that later, when I'm feeling less lazy.
