I went into the authserver container and verified that the conf in the actual container has the new variable values I input. I kinda assumed they're all tied together and pull from each other, but I can try the env vars instead

Yeah, that's totally possible. I think `env/dist/etc` might be mounted by default, and if you're adding mounts into `etc` there's probably going to be some changes.
It'll be easier to debug if it's explicit rather than implicit, though

Env vars are easiest to pop off a server to. Convenient not Secure. Fine for config but I would go stuffing any creds in there.
