we're definitely still trodding over a lot of the same ground - do you have yours to the point that what i'm working on isn't going to be useful?

when I replace my `/.git/` line with `/.git/objects/**/*.pack`, I'm still getting this:
```
#14 1.660 fatal: bad object HEAD
#14 1.664 --
#14 1.664 Could not find a proper repository signature (hash) - you may need to pull tags with git fetch -t
#14 1.664 Continuing anyway - note that the versionstring will be set to "unknown 1970-01-01 00:00:00 (Archived)"
```

so if the .git folder comes over without the objects, it's not reading it right. if i copy the entire `.git` folder over it does work fine.

I have mine in a relatively stable state. I rebuild it maybe twice a week with minimal problems. There's good overlap, but there's nothing wrong with you working on your version of it. Casual reminder that my (huge) PR has been open for the past couple months

got it. well, this may end up being a a personal enrichment project, but if i can get it clean enough i might throw it at the PR wall and see if it sticks. thanks for the continuing technical guidance, drinking from the firehose on some of this.
