I did that as well as docker compose down, should I just delete all files too and start from scratch?

Thank you for pointing your issue out.
`.conf` - this is the only file the game server reads. End result of config should go in here.
`.conf.dist` - created/copied on build. You can modify it, but those changes won't get moved into `conf` unless you copy it yourself
`.conf.dockerdist` - this file contains changes specific to running acore in a container, and is merged with `.conf.dist` into `.conf.dist`. You can put custom changes in here.
build process:
1. compile
2. merge `.conf.dockerdist` with `.conf.dist`
3. copy `.conf.dist` into `.conf` if `.conf` does not exist.
You will need to either delete `.conf` before the build, or add in the changes manually to that file manually.

(and <@158668771295363072>)
To be fair, I haven't tried it. I'd be interested in seeing it work, since I love seeing interesting stuff like that. Wasn't trying to discourage you with my initial comment. Genuinely, godspeed and good luck
It is linux, but in steamOS:
1. updates will remove anything not in `/home`
2. limited memory on the deck. My current Acore setup (with nobody logged in right now) is using 5 MB, 1.6GB, 751MB of memory (authserver, worldserver, mysql) and since the deck only has 16GB and it uses some of that for video memory, it may be somewhat limited. The GPU can access up to 8 GB of the shared memory
3. the steam deck is a specialized combination of hardware and software, and installing docker isn't a standard process. If you're just trying to get a server running, online guides may be difficult to follow due to the non standard setup

this is only tangentially related, but there's this blog post about someone setting up tailscale on the steam deck and the troubles they had to go through
