honestly very easy noip ddns guide ip connect lan friends online wifi (keywords for anyone control-Fing)
1) make account on no-ip and setup a moving DDNS on their website
1.5) install their afk DDNS updating and make a realmlist website there so it updates itself
2) use heidisql to access db, enter auth, enter realmlist and put your realmlist website inside the "address" (NOT LOCAL ADDRESS)
3) restart db
4) find your physical router and login to it on your web browser, instructions often labelled on the bottom of the router, usually something like https://196.0.0.1 and a password, or something similar and open the ports 3372 and 8805 (i think) to your specific machine address
5) restart pc
6) make your friends set their realmlist to your realmlist
7) play

ya to kitty's point, networking is its own beast and nothing i did networking wise for AC was AC specific, just normal networking port forwards, DNS and a domain

were you able to get an IP address in the realmlist.wtf file to work? i only managed that after specifying a DNS to that IP

i stop my clock at 77 hours from thinking "i should stop using repacks and try to do a proper thing" to character creation

for context, a repack takes approximately 15 mins to download, 15 mins to unzip, and 2 mins to "install" (click launch) and you're making characters, you just cannot update/patch them properly. now i can mess with sql and make some fun stuff, maybe package into a module for rest of azerothcore to enjoy

noice, FWIW the change to require the AC console vs an admin/admin i imagine was purely a security play, admin accounts are a great backdoor for bad folks, but it's a lot harder to attach to a docker container and then get in
