I was able to make it work. I did a fresh install of azerothcore. Set the bindings and dbc. Using sqllite works better than MySQL. It’s still hot or miss on exporting though.

The point was, you shouldn't point the spell editor to the world db, but to its own database. You also shouldn't copy the data to your world database, but copy the exported spell dbc to the data directory of your server

There's no need to do any db changes at all as long as you copy the dbc
