Oh yeah, we've had a few occasions of this specific problem pop up when using MySQL too but recently it seems to be mainly MariaDB.

My opinion, then, is to highlight that in the docs when telling people they can use MariaDB as well. Others disagree and have declared such users idiots and not worthy of such documentation ♂️

To me this sounds like poor macro maintenance, I'd recommend just dropping your own weird macro implementations where you can so you don't have to deal with version control
