There's something else going on because 10.5 does work. Something has really gone full meltdown mode on your end.-

seems like it. i'm just looking at the check in the code right now so i can reproduce this outside of AC and hopefully trace this a bit more but yeah, it's on me.

Just as a heads up, that "found version" looks to be the C connector version being printed, not the actual server.

I'm not really a C expert but it looks like it might just not be catching that it's mariadb in this instance.

Must be something on our end for sure then because my installations of Debian with MariaDB does work fine (10.5).
