But as far as going from old character pdump from old core to new core i been told works.

so I don't have a pdump, but I did make a backup of the different tables before I started, so I have a backup of tables from a server a year old, and have just created a new server, but I don't think I'll be able to import those old records as the schema will have changed

You should boot up the old server and run pdumps I guess

it doesn't boot up due to the database errors above. I do have dumps from before, but I think I am just going to ditch it and start from scratch
