if you're using a remote connection, it's the recommended way to access your database

the systemctl status ssh shows my connection even and its says "Accepted password for user from .... port 60428 ssh2" and pam creates a session (not using root! - tried root and it was denied since i prohibit that) should i open more listening ports? the exact error from HeidiSQL is "Lost connection to server at 'handschake: reading initial communication packet' system error: 0" I googled a bit with no success yet

Why not just disallow root access from remote and any users created are set to specific ips? Sounds pretty secure to me.
