In the worldserver.conf there is an option of increasing MaxPlayerLevel, but there is a note that says "Levels beyond 100 are not recommended at all."
Is this for game balance reasons or will something in the game break when players go past level 100?

It's not. Clone and compile is more reliable. Your new machine might not be able to use the executable files.

There is a bunch of stuff, sql wise you just have stats and stuff untill lvl 80 so if you go for more then lvl 80 nothing is really happening besides your level, also on source code the max level there is 100, so if you wanna go over that you need to change it in the source code as well

That’s why it’s not recomendes to go over 100 because that’s the limit on the source code even tho you can actually get to 255 by using levelup command

But then you can queue for bgs and some other functionalities brake if you don’t constumize them

main things that will break are stat calculations above 100 and client will crash for druids when they open character pane
