well shit - i was doing a full cmake, then make -j, then make instgall

If you run cmake, then make and make install, it'll only compile changes and not everything. If you run make clean or delete the build folder before doing all that it'll do a full compile which is rarely needed (except for initial compile or if you're having issues ofc)

remember that $(nproc) represents the number of cores available to the system so managing different systems becomes a lot easier if you want to use all cores every time anyway.

I mean, using for example make -j $(nproc) instead. I always do because I tend to have 1 machine per worldserver and it's just easier.
