If by "open" you mean have the processes bind to a public IP, then yes. However, you might have to update the realmlist table in the auth DB to reflect the change in IP address, <@128532218283819008>

I only ask because i installed everything last night, and it all worked perfectly, however today when i went to login it gave me an unable to connect error and i havent been able to figure out what i am doing wrong. i was hoping i was just starting up the server wrong

Did the IP of your server change or are you running server and wow client on the same machine

Same machine, i did notice that showip has an ip address that is different by 1 digit than last night for some reason. I updated everything with the new ip but it still didnt work. I tried using 127.0.0.1 as well, no change.

Well for same machine all ips in realmlist database table and realmlist.wtf can be set to 127.0.0.1 which is also the default iirc

Ok so i figured it out, i changed all ips back to 127.0.0.1 and it did not work originaly, however i dug into the client folder and found a SECOND realmlist file, after updating the second file i was able to connect. Have there always been 2 realmlist files in wow clients?
