The user doesn't matter when it comes to where files are placed since you set the path in cmake.

In that case the user matter because you used the user as the variable for the path. If you ran it as root, $HOME = /root.

If you have a user other than root, you should never run anything as root for AC (except when installing packages, of coursE)
