Lua is single threaded, and originally Eluna had a single Lua state. So either we had to make the emulator single threaded by forcing map update threads to one, or we'd have to do mutex locking and essentially make the emulator single threaded that way. The new Eluna implementation allows for multiple states, which allows for multiple map update threads, but this is not ported to the AC fork of Eluna
