If you compile using git and you have the custom code in a module. You do a git pull, pass the cmake and compile. If you make modifications to the kernel, you should see if it is necessary to revert it or if you can do it anyway.

Go to your AC Repo directory. Git pull. Run cmake. Build/make (depending on OS).

Just to clear that up, that's not how it works with NPCBots. They are just like regular NPCs, you can hire them and essentially you can compare them to hunter and warlock pets, so they don't count towards the player cap.

With a minimal amount of players, testing can be done on the same server. If you don't want to take down the "live" server to run tests, you can always run a second realm that's only up during the testing stages. That's how I do it, although I don't allow anyone else on my realms but me. It's still a solid plan rather than having to set it all up locally on top of server-side - as long as the server isn't maxing out and the players notice lag but with a small amount of players that you know, they can be told it **can** happen and shouldn't care for the small amount of time it would be running anyway.
