What exactly did you install? The new installer lets you run Visual Studio in some rather barebones configurations and you might have ended up without the C++ toolset.

I’d have to confirm the character limit thing. I’m not sure that’s a hard coded thing.

I am fairly certain the server-side limit on Blizzard realms is something like 55. Maybe in thinking of characters per account.
