my advice would be to download some kind of database GUI tool, HeidiSQL seems to be popular here

Hey all, I've been looking through database files and through DBC files but I'm having trouble finding out how to edit the starting equipment for new characters. I'm going to add another realm for instant 80 and would like to adjust the starting gear, thanks for any help!

You want to edit the CharStartOutfit dbc file if I remember correctly

instead of editing the DBC file however, you can utilize the CharStartOufit database dbc table to override the DBC entries
