well we've determined the source of the problem. my client is crashing on login, turns out I need to edit the database which is somewhere in cyberspace and I thank you for your time and your help. thank you

Not sure about DB, but you should be able to remove them from a group via GM commands.

The `groups` and `group_member` tables hold that information if you're unable to do it using commands (those might require the character to be online)
