I mean if some1 rly wanted to have performance and compatibility there would be joins not sub selects and that would just work but I admit often it's simpler to write sub select

Just like I said back then, if it bothers me that performance is degraded for mariadb then I can just run a separate server for mysql to deal with it. It's up to me and that's what I did.
