I wouldn't say it's hazing...hell, I'm still a super newbie myself. Just been trying to explain to you that the goal of AC is blizzlike first and foremost, and that oftentimes means including their inconsistencies. If something seems wrong, proof of how it worked is a pre-requisite. That is all.

I'd take a look at it in Harry's Spell editor, not sure if it comes down to a simple condition in the spell or if it's a cpp change. Maybe someone with more knowledge can answer you

which is a really not fun balancing act: I either have to deal with certain bugs never being fixed as a matter of principle or I have to forfeit all future updates (or try to combine them myself, causing more problems)
