nowaday there is not that much effort needed when u want to use linux its just getting used to UI and commands

u could also have VM instead of WSL in windows and try linux that way

That all depends on what the plan for it is. As a dev environment? It's a better idea just to install the required software using Windows. If it's only running the server, and possibly mysql, then yes it's a good way to get used to using Linux to host it.
