(I feel like Keira might be able to help, quickly loading it up to see if visually I see anything that makes sense. but I haven't really started mucking with it much other than making 1 NPC vendor).

Looks like it is considered an Aura. If you download Keira3 and search for the Spell there you will see the "effect" section.

But generically looking at that I don't know why your new spell would gets the same effect. Reading that the effect seems unique to the spell and just done by effect ID's. So it "seems" like the aura on your spell would be distinct from the aura on the original.

Spells are read from the spell.dbc file.
If you have a value for a spell in the `spell_dbc` table, it overrides anything in the spell.dbc file for that spell.
