Only reason I can think of is that Visual Studio or CMake or one of those may act a bit more funky. But realistically you could build on a separate machine and publish it to that server. I stopped running Server editions at home mostly because *things* I was running/trying to run at home just weren't written/supported on Server. They worked but always with oddities (ie: plex, steam remote play, moonlight).

If you want to use Windows Server, it works fine. I've tried it recently and had no issues, both 2019 and 2022.

i think i might have installed mysql wrong, it doesnt have the lib directory, if i try to reinstall will it mess with anything ive already done? im at the point where ive been through cmake and visual studios
