Docker is great for developers passing code around but other than that for me it's useless. Considering the previous discussion I feel the need to point out that that is my opinion.

I'm a systems admin/engineer by trade, so I have strong opinions in this area. If you're running a cloud instance that just runs apache/mysql/etc, it should be purpose built and as lean as possible. I don't need docker running in a VM within a cloud.

I guess the one exception is if you're using ECS, or fargate or something. But I also don't like being locked into a specific cloud provider's proprietary nonsense
