Nobody likes being told they've been doing things wrong and that it's their fault. Sure, it could absolutely be seen as their fault, but there's nothing wrong with letting someone down gently about it

It was never said that they're doing things wrong or that it's their fault really. We can't give support for old code and if they wish to get our help they need to update the core first. That's merely a choice of *Do I want support or not?*.
