That's the thing, I have. It required me to install WIne mono, which I also did. Then I got this gigantic string of errors and I realize that trying to setup wine for this would require me waaay more time and expertise than it would be worth it. I planned to run a VM windows for a while now, since I wanna do a GPU passthrough somewhere before the year is out. It's probably just as much a hassle to setup, especially since now I gotta wipe my SSD that I have Proxmox installed on, but it's still a step in a direction that I wanna go rather than a stopgap measure.

Oh, I hadn't considered that at all. I just wanted to learn the inner workings of WoW servers and maybe give my warlocks demon form 24/7. But if this is the case by all means, I retract my question.

Modifying the core, except the client data files of course, is all fine but anything related to the DBCs or the client is off-limits due to.. well legal reasons.
