From what I've seen, various improvements have been made but still largely buggy and more development needed. I haven't been able to test it out myself yet though. https://github.com/liyunfan1223/mod-playerbots you may want to try this fork, it's a bit more progressed i think than the main one at the moment

I noticed that it required a custom fork to use? Can it not be installed like a standard module?

Nope, as it requires changes to the core you would need to use their fork

You can configure it to create a bot that posts a user specified allocation of goods onto the AH for players to be able to buy
