I don't have much experience with MySQL so I just want to know if I understand it correctly - in order to import a MySQL database I should use a root user, but for using the core I should utilize the user I imported (In this case acore)?

AC still needs a heap of work to translate serverside content. I believe you cannot just translate freely though
