. is current directory and /data means it goes into the data folder located in the current directory. I know others who use ./data without issues.

It is strange that all other maps work for you. I wonder if perhaps you are encountering the corrupt data. It might be worth to try re-extracting (or re-downloading) the map data freshly to see if the issue is solved.
