then you need to port forward traffic for auth and the realm server on your router. the auth server sees that the client IP isn't in the local network, and will tell it the realm is at `address` instead of `localAddress`.

once you understand what the fields actually do its not too bad. i just use `whoami.akamai.net` for my `address`, that way its always my public ip address.

critically, if you use DNS names the auth server will convert those to IPs before it sends it to the client. so you can't do split DNS where my.wowserver.com resolves to one thing internally and another thing externally.
