How about installing docker and running sql through docker? would be an option if you're more comfortable with docker compose

I do have some professional Linux experience, but with pretty specific applications. Ran an imaging server off Ubuntu server, supported (mostly Ubuntu) workstations, etc.

I considered Docker as well but I've been trying to avoid it- makes sense from a compatibility standpoint, but I'm trying to learn a bit also
