It looks like https://github.com/danielsreichenbach/mod-playerbots is a clone of the playerbots module, but the repo owner is not maintaining it to be up to date. I would recommend using the original version from here if you would like a functioning version:

However, on the other hand, the module is still in development and does have quite some bugs still, so I would only recommend using it right now if you would like to follow development progress and are okay with some issue. If you are just needing working bots to join your party, I would agree with the recommendation of using NPCbots for now. It does not have all of the features of Playerbots, but is work without as many bugs.
