As long as you don't setup applications under **root** on Linux systems and under their own account, with limited access.
The biggest security issue I see in the field is users setting up everything under **root** account.

idk about your specific program but i jsut went through making a custom vendor, you just need to make your npc in the creature tempalte table, and then populate the npc_vendor table with what you want to sell

You don't have to browse anything to get malware. If you leave your computer open to anyone with physical access, it's done for as well.
