I'm not sure if it should be muted by default but then again when it comes to all this I am fairly clueless.

I personally wouldn't, it's a relatively edge case where people don't use the dist file as the conf template

Alright, converting the docs to MkDocs with Material, a far superior system, is doable. It'll require some fiddling though.
