is there the mac version of files you need to copy over? I looked in the mac installation guide but I didn't see a mention of open ssl at all. I just peeked at the requirements section

generally dll weirdness and moving them around is not a thing on unix systems....many installations are automatic but many also require moving executables into for example /usr/bin which also depends on way u installed it

if so it sounds like extracting is alot like downloading a zip where it doesn't matter where you put it. Just know where it is cause you will need to move those over to a data folder. (technically it can be a folder named anything, but then you'd have to make sure your config files match the folder name in data dir)
