It doesn't change the fact that solo lfg requires changes to the core and you're not mentioning if you have those or not in them both

Which changes? The install instructions for Solo LFG only has three instructions: cloning the branch, re-running cmake and doing a clean build, and including the SoloLfg.conf if you haven't already

Right, just combing through the update history previously, it looked like at some point it required the patch, but changes to azerothcore allowed it to be injected without requiring the patch in the version currently linked on the catalog?

I still say try removing individual progression to see if the problem goes away or not. This is clearly not a global issue and something is triggering it in your setup.
