but now seriously in linux its like 6 commands if i dont count cd-ing between folders

the script is simply outdated a little i would say. so some commands have changed slightly from a syntax perspective. i will try to complete the installation and post my changes here later

Afaik the npc bots module required core changes, cause not every required hook is exposed. So you won't be able to just clone the core and the module and compile.
