Custom changes should be stored in a .sql file with delete/insert, update or replace queries so you can easily import your changes at any time while taking up the least amount of space.

Also, I meant reverting the server to a precious "version" - not specifically the database but that follows.

You have to run cmake and compile it but you don't have to clean using Visual Studio or anything like that.
