He just said that I should use the classic client using hermes proxy and then he said he wasn't using the proxy so it makes no sense.

Really, the main reason I'd switch is stability and possibly 64-bit support. I'm not having any issues as-is so it's not that important to make that switch.

Yeah I took it for granted it would work without, I mixed it up when I recalled it was trinity 3.4.0
