Sure, can do. But I'm afraid it's not helpful too many. Most are either capable of googling that or just use the download button.

It's a good command to know if you ever have to revert to a previous commit in case of errors etc.

that is what I'm talking about. but I think adding a line such as the one below might be helpful to people. even if they know `git checkout COMMIT`, it's nice as a quick reference to something that a user can copy and paste.

I agree that a lot of people might be aware that they can run `git checkout COMMIT`, but I think if we're telling someone they'll have to do something, it doesn't hurt to be more specific on what they have to do in order to apply to all skill levels.
Someone new *can* google it, but if we know the command they'll have to run, why not just include it anyway

Wouldn't hurt to have it on the wiki saying that if you want to switch to a previous commit for whatever reason or to go through commits due to a squash the command could be used.
