I've configured the steam deck buttons to map to the game. I use the right touch pad as a standard mouse, click to right click. Hold right trigger, and it has a mode shift as a 1 through = radial for the hotbar

left stick is standard wasd. I have a and d set to strafe. Right stick is left and right arrow keys for turning, and I think up and down on right stick is insert and delete. If i need to really think about moving the camera I just click+hold the right touchpad and move as needed

Yea there really isn't any consoleport solution for 3.3.5, you're pretty much bound to using some sort of joy2key program. I also use Steam input for it, but no matter what playing with an Xbox controller is going to be pretty limiting, unless your class has a *very* small amount of spells to cast

i have one of the back buttons mapped to shift and another to ctrl, it gets the job done in a way

I have my left trackpad set up to be 1-= with the bumpers acting as alt and shift iirc which jumps to different action bars
